in class i gave you the name of a known/not-well-known dance pioneer. use the links below and two different book references to answer the following questions:
1) what was their real name and their stage name?
2) what was their technical background?
3) was there a time in their life where they chose to stay dancing or go against the grain of the norm?
4) did they perform in a company? did they start their own company? if so, what was the name, year it began and other "big names" in dance who may have performed with them or in their company?
5) what are five major facts we should know about him/her?
6) what is a little known fact about him/her?

welcome to class!
as dancers, movement is a major part of our lives. every single thing we do from the moment we wake up til we lay down at night is fulfilling the need to move...some of us don't even stop when we're asleep. even though dance is such a huge part of every day for us, we don't know very much about the huge amount of growth that the dance world in general has gone through to get to where it is today. this year, we will be using this blog to find information and post information on: pioneers in dance, modern-day dance pioneers and also how/what you can do to influence the dance world in the future.
